Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Secretary Salvador Panelo has challenged former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to seek another return to the Senate in the 2022 national elections.

“I want him to run. Go run! Let us see if the Filipino people will accept or refuse him,” he said

Panelo in his daily online program, “Counterpoint”, made the challenge as he backed President Rodrigo Duterte in his call to Filipinos to be wary of Trillanes as the latter “will sell you to the devil.”

“Did you know that Trillanes has done many mischiefs? He did a lot of defamations. Do you remember when the President was just a candidate, he accused him of having a lot of money hidden in the bank? The President asked me to handle it and we proved that they were all lies. It turned out that the President has only more or less P16,000 in his bank account,” he said.

Panelo also blamed Trillanes as the reason why former military chief Angelo Reyes committed suicide.

“He ruined many lives. Secretary Angelo Reyes went to Marikina in his mother’s grave and shot himself. Do you know the reason? Trillanes shamed him in the senate. That is the reason why he committed suicide,” he said.

“So, the president is right. Be wary, he might fool you again,” he added.

Panelo made these remarks after Trillanes released fresh tirades against the President saying he should relax and focus on the government’s vaccination program and warned him that he will be jailed next year.

Panelo countered this and reminded Trillanes of his pending cases.

“Remember, you might be the one who will return to jail. You still have pending cases,” he added.
