LG Electronics (LG) has announced the adoption by at least 20 television manufacturers of its webOS TV ecosystem, disrupting a sector known for its proprietary operating systems.

Among the brands adopting webOS are RCA, Ayonz and Konka with more partners expected to join in the future.

The webOS system has delivered ease of use for LG TV owners through its intuitive interface design since 2014.

Licensees of webOS TV receive the acclaimed UX design along with a pool of features such as voice search and control, integrated AI algorithms and easy connectivity.

LG’s webOS TV provides access to global streaming service apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and sports streaming service DAZN.

Meanwhile, the South Korean electronics giant also unveiled heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) solutions for air quality issues brought about by socially-distanced lifestyles.

Among the innovations are LG’s Air Purification Kit and the LG DUAL Vane Cassette, an indoor four-way ceiling cassette-type unit that ensures safe air with an extensive purification function.

The kit effectively removes harmful bacteria and invisible ultrafine dust. The filter can be easily detached and cleaned with water for efficient and cost-effective semi-permanent usage.

Thanks to the LG ThinQ mobile app, users can control and monitor their LG solution from inside or outside the home, and check air quality status in real-time.
