Since it’s Valentine Month, we get to also throw some love, romance and — of course cars — into the mix.

Xavier Medina is no stranger to success. A consistent honor student and a decorated athlete since his grade school days, he was able to carry this well unto adolescence.

Now at 38 years old, he’s happily married to his lovely wife together raising two beautiful daughters. Not to mention being in a family of celebrities — sisters Kat and Diane, together with cousin/beauty queen Maxine, with in-laws Geneva, Sunshine and Tirso Cruz III, just to name a few — you would more or less get the idea of how this seemingly ideal gentleman was bred.

At first glance — with his well-mannered bearing coupled with his confident “James Dean” looks — one may instantly mistake him for a fine fellow built for the glitz and the glamor. However; one can be surprised and can even catch oneself off guard when he learns that this kind of Medina is not of the brazen — but of the soft-spoken and well reserved who can even somehow content himself in one corner.

With this, we here at Daily Tribune (DT) were curious to pick his brain to the point of prying as to how this “Silent Medina” goes through rigors of the everyday grind — far from the usual spotlight that the rest of his brood are mostly familiar with. Plus — since it’s Valentine Month — we get to also throw some love, romance and — of course, cars — into the mix.

DT: Tell us something about yourself. (eg. school background, years working, family and others)

X: “I graduated from Ateneo De Manila University in 2005 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts, Major in Management Economics. I have been working for almost 16 years already. My work experience is the retail industry and I’ve worked for big brands like Adidas, Mizuno and Levi’s. However — just before the pandemic — I decided to become a full time entrepreneur.”

DT: What was your first car?

X: “My first car was a red Honda Civic VTI 2000 model manual transmission. It was my graduation gift from my parents.”

DT: Share to us your car ownership journey?

X: “As mentioned, my first car was a Honda Civic VTI 2000 model. It had the same body as the SIR. After seven years, I upgraded my Civic with the Civic VTI model. I really enjoyed the ride and the performance of my Civic. I had my Civic for another five to six years. From there, I got a Toyota Vios as this was the issued vehicle by the company. When I left the company, I got the family a bigger vehicle — a Ford Everest.

DT: What was your most memorable experience with your wife inside the car?

“My most memorable experience with my wife inside the car is when we do our out-of-town trips. One particular trip was the La Union trip. We simply enjoyed the trip itself while heading to our destination.”

DT: What’s an ideal romantic date for you (since you don’t go out these days because of the pandemic?)

X: “An ideal romantic date for me should have a setting on a roof top, nice view, good background music with dinner for two setting (that has candles and flowers). But if we ever go out and use the car, it would be on a long road trip to the mountains. My wife loves going to the mountains. Either going somewhere in Tagaytay or Baguio would be ideal. Aside from the destination itself, we usually enjoy the long trip with endless and fun conversation.”

DT: If a car was a woman, what would be its most distinguished or sexiest feature/s? Why?

X: “I think the eyes would be the sexiest part of a woman. In the same way, the front portion of a car is like the eyes of the car. It carries its overall look.”

DT: What’s your motto in life? How can you relate it to cars, your career or business?

X: “Keep on improving yourself and success will follow. I ensure that my car is well maintained inside and outside. As a result, I would have a car that is performing well. Since I have a car performing well for me, I get to do my errands or operate my business efficiently.”

THE country’s bestselling Toyota Vios was proven to be reliable as a company service vehicle.
