Customs-Mactan has one-stop vax shop
The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Subport of Mactan has set up a one-stop-shop to ensure the smooth processing of the importations of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.
Mactan Subport Collector Gerardo Campo told the Daily Tribune the one-stop-shop is composed of personnel from the BoC, Department of Health (DoH), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which will be stationed at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA).
BoC offices at MCIA, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Davao International Airport (DIA) have already been advised on conducting regular coordination meetings with the DoH and FDA on the arrival of vaccines.
“The purpose of the OSS is to ensure the fastest releases of the arriving vaccines from the plane side to the designated van/s and delivery to the consignee’s storage facilities,” Campo added.
This as Cebu Customs District Collector Atty. Charlito Martin Mendoza said “The Bureau of
Customs thru the guidance and directives of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero will continue to organize interport meetings to guarantee the overall readiness of the Bureau of Customs for the arrival of the sought-after vaccines.”
Guerrero said the pre-clearance process, documentary requirements for importation and donation, expedite handling, and logistical challenges, were all comprehensively discussed during the meeting to ensure that a uniform protocol will be implemented in all ports.
