Abstract pursuit in Endpoint
Inspired by lines, movement and impulsivity, Endpoints by young artist Leo Bisquera seeks to explore the vibrant, connected and awe-inspiring patterns that exist in this world through an abstract lens.
The show, opening on 5 March at Virtual ArtistSpace, combines unique process-driven techniques. All his works are acrylic on canvas that are structured, calculated, impulsive and unmeasured — achieved without using a paintbrush and based on movement study.
Bisquera, 25, is an emerging geometric abstract artist currently based in the Philippines. He obtained a degree in Fine Arts Majoring in Painting from the University of Santo Tomas in 2017.
Bisquera describes his practice as a combination of calculated geometrics and impulsive abstraction.
In 2020, Bisquera was a finalist of ARTablado National Painting Competition. In 2019, he held his first solo exhibition in Sigwada Gallery, Manila. Since 2014, he has participated in both local and international group exhibitions such as Gallery 928, Sigwada Gallery, and Thailand Cultural Center in Bangkok, Thailand. He was invited to join the 2020 Global Artists Committee of Asian Art Association.
Bisquera describes his practice as a combination of calculated geometrics and impulsive abstraction. Influenced by significant artists such as Sol LeWitt, Paul Klee, and Sarah Morris, he seeks to expand on existing notions of abstraction from the era of modernism.
Endpoints will be on view virtually starting on 5 March, Friday at 6 p.m. The virtual exhibition will run until 25 March. The link to the exhibition will be posted on ArtistSpace Facebook and Instagram pages (@artistspacegallery).
