- BY CHERK BALAGTAS

After more than a year of eluding arrest, a man who allegedly killed, slaughtered, burned and consumed part of his victim’s leg of his drinking buddy was finally arrested in Bulacan on Tuesday night.

Authorities identified the suspect as 42-year-old Marlon Cruz, a resident of Barangay Tiaong in Guiguinto, while the victim was named as Roger Herrera, a former resident of Barangay Tabe.

Based on a report of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Bulacan, operatives arrested Cruz in Barangay Igulot, Bocaue at about 6 p.m. Tuesday following the serving of a warrant of arrest in the murder case issued by the 3rd Judicial Regional Trial Court Branch 84 in Malolos presiding Judge Caroline Soriano-Rojas City on 30 July 2020.

According to the report, Cruz killed the victim on 27 October 2019 in Guiguinto, Bulacan, while in the middle of their drinking session, they figured in a heated argument which resulted in a fistfight.

The suspect apparently became so angry, forcing him to repeatedly stab the victim in his chest.

The report also showed that after killing Herrera, the suspect allegedly burned the victim and cut a flesh from Herrera’s right leg.

The suspect apparently placed the “cooked” meat on a plate then ate it.

Meanwhile, at the police station, the suspect denied all the allegation, saying that while he was having a fistfight with the victim, his uncle helped him and stabbed Herrera twice in the chest until he died.

He added that when his uncle saw that the victim was already dead, he cut a piece of flesh from the victim’s leg and fried it.

After cooking, his uncle immediately placed it on a plate and waited for the meat to cool down then ate it.

The suspect is now under the custody of the CIDG.
