“We just clicked.” This is what Starstruck’s Ultimate Female Survivor Shayne Sava said on her chemistry with fellow Starstruck alum Abdul Raman.

The two met on the seventh season of the GMA talent competition series and quickly became friends. There’s no secret to their closeness, but it was their attitudes that just clicked throughout the show.

“Actually, at first, I found her cute,” Abdul said.

In fact, the teasing made their bond stronger, Sava shared. “Mas lalo pong lumalakas and tumitibay yung bond namin with each other through asaran tsaka mga interesting stuff. So

nagc-click talaga kami ni Abdul (Our bond strengthens through our jokes as well as talking about interesting stuff. So we really click),” she said at the media conference.

Their tandem is known as “Team Bully,” Raman supplies.

“Kasi mahilig po naming i-bully yung isa’t isa (Because we like to bully each other),” Sava added.

“Hindi naman po siya yung mga below-the-belt (jokes). Siyempre kailangan din po naming isipin yung feelings ng isa’t isa. Pero doon po talaga kami nagc-click (We don’t do below-the-belt jokes. Of course we need to be mindful of each other’s feelings. But we really click through our teasing),” Sava said.

If they have to describe their tandem in real life, it’ll be the bully-to-bully trope. “Cookies and cream, tubig at langis, cat and mouse, dog and cat (it›s like that). Lagi lang kaming naga-asaran (We really tease each other a lot). That’s my way of showing love,” Raman added.

This is Sava’s second major TV series gig after battling it out on Starstruck, where she placed first opposite Kim de Leon.

However, the two will be completely different in GMA’s new cultural drama, Legal Wives. Sava is Jamila, the daughter of Alice Dixson, who plays one of the wives of Dennis Trillo’s character; Raman is a poor kid living in Maranao named Hammad who falls in love with her and is desperate to impress her and her family.

Legal Wives revolves around Ishmael (Trillo), who is a Muslim Maranao royal, and his three wives Amirah, Dianne and Farrah played by Dixson, Andrea Torres and Bianca Umali, respectively. Sava and Raman are also joined by Cherie Gil and Al Antay, among others.

“We’re conservative. (There are many aspects in the series) that will be conservative. Like there’s no boyfriend and girlfriend; we can’t touch ever. Even talking for too long is considered haram. So sobrang magiging conservative talaga nung magiging love team namin dalawa sa Legal Wives,” Sava said.

This is Sava’s second major TV series gig after battling it out on Starstruck, where she placed first opposite Kim de Leon. Surrounded by veterans on the show, the Female Ultimate Survivor put her acting skills to the test by working and researching extra hard to prepare for her role as Jamila.

“I researched about the Muslim culture and inaral ko, inalam ko yung mga work ethics. Inaral ko yung scripts ko. Alam ko rin naman na along the way madami pa akong matututunan so sobrang open ako sa kung ano man yung mabibigay na knowledge sa akin (I researched about the Muslim culture beforehand. I studied and also learned about work ethics. I studied my scripts. And I know along the way I”ll have so much to learn. I›m really open to getting more knowledge while working on the show),” Sava said.

In the future, Sava wants to get out of her comfort zone in terms of acting. “Any roles will do, of course. During our Starstruck

days, we were taught how to be versatile in acting. But what I really want to try are fantasy and action,” she said.

Raman’s dream role is someone like John Wick. But in the long run, he wants to portray a character like the Joker. He added, “I really like doing something out of my comfort zone, but for now I want to do something like John Wick. It’s astig.

‘Cause every guy wants to do that, plus me.”
