New single on 'going with the flow' now out
The R&B jam delves into someone’s heart who longs for commitment yet makes do with whatever the other party offers despite the feeling of incompleteness
Music has always been a bridge that connects people, no matter their location or language. Its universality promotes not only its origin’s culture, but also the possibility of coming together despite many differences.
Indie artist fern. (yes, it really is “fern.”) has always been committed to blurring the imaginary lines between genres by producing music that would be enjoyable not just to Filipinos but also for people around the world ever since his introduction in the music scene.
People who are looking for the perfect tune to go with their longing for emotional stability can find it in his new single titled “Whatever This Is.”
The R&B jam delves into someone’s heart who longs for commitment yet makes do with whatever the other party offers despite the feeling of incompleteness.
According to fern, “Whatever This Is’ is based on a personal experience and how music has always been his way of coping with different situations he comes to face in his budding career and his life.
“‘Whatever This Is’ is one of those songs that was made just because I wanted to let go of certain emotions and be okay with whatever I was feeling at the moment,” the indie artist shared. “My songs are basically just the product of my emotions and they all represent the different stages that I go through in life.”
Fans can also look forward to the release of the song’s music video on 5 March.
During the press event for the release of the song, fern. disclosed the process of creating the song’s video.
“My friends and I thought about how we can capture the fun that we do, how we mess around and stuff.
With ‘Whatever This Is,’ it’s kind of not knowing where (the relationship is headed). The music video is very candid. It was just going with the flow,” he stated.
Coming down to the technicalities of the music video, fern. noted, “We tried to make it into kind of like a short film because we’re all really into film.”
“Whatever This Is” is available on all streaming platforms worldwide.
