Shorten waiting time, exposure, Go tells LGU
Our main goal today is to flatten the curve and vaccinate as many Filipinos in accordance with the priority list
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has reminded local government units (LGU) and those managing vaccination centers to shorten waiting time and exposure during the inoculation process.
“While we want to vaccinate as many people as we can, we still need to ensure their health and safety while they are in the process of getting vaccinated,” said Go who is chair of the Senate Committee on Health. He also urged government to increase and spread out authorized vaccination spots to ensure that they are accessible to all.
A sufficient number of centers must be available at any given time to avoid bottlenecks or delays in the vaccination rollout, according to Go.
The senator also reminded the Department of Health, LGU, and other concerned authorities to clearly communicate their vaccination protocols to avoid inconvenience and delay in the rollout.
“We have to make sure that we are conducting the inoculation in an orderly manner, so we can ensure everyone’s health while they are receiving the vaccines. Our main goal today is to flatten the curve and vaccinate as many Filipinos in accordance with the priority list,” Go stressed.
He said the order of priority must be strictly followed, and no one should be given special treatment when it comes to vaccination.
“We have to follow the priority list laid down by the government. I don’t want anyone to be given VIP treatment especially in vaccination. Let’s prioritize our frontliners.” Go said.
“After the medical frontliners, then we proceed with A2, A3, senior citizens and those with comorbidities,” he added.
Go assured that if the priority list is followed, it will be faster for the country to vaccinate the rest of the population that will eventually lead to herd immunity.
“We have to consume the available vaccines to ensure the orderly rollout. We have to spread it around the country, especially in NCR Plus whose cases are rising. It is important to speed up the vaccination,” he added.
Go encouraged the public to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible. He urged everyone to educate themselves about the vaccines, particularly with regard to their safety and efficacy, and to rely on the verified information released by the proper authorities and health experts.
“As I always say, we have to trust the vaccines. Let us not allow fear to overcome us. We have to be wary of Covid-19. The vaccines are our only solution or key to overcome the problem. Vaccines are the only way to achieve herd immunity in the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Go urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.
“Let us trust government efforts to address the pandemic. Measures are being done for the sake of everyone,” he said.
Amid the adverse impact of the pandemic on the lives and livelihoods of Filipinos, Go said that a whole-of-nation approach is necessary to help unburden citizens, particularly the poor and vulnerable sectors.
“We need the cooperation of everyone in the fight against Covid-19. This is not only the fight of the government but the fight of every Filipino, the whole world. This is not the time for finger-pointing. This is the time to help each other,” he said.
