HONDA TO DISCONTINUE JAZZ MODEL
This comes as a sad note for Honda Jazz enthusiasts
News broke out and quickly spread when Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) recently announced that it would already discontinue its famed Honda Jazz. This comes as a sad note for Honda Jazz enthusiasts — in particular — since they have been engrossed with the model for almost two decades already. Not to mention the newest generation of the model was also unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Jazz was introduced in July 2004 and was unveiled as an innovative vehicle set to excite the market — particularly hatchback lovers. It has been one of HCPI’s well-loved models since then, selling over 25,000 units to date.
Adored for its smart and sporty styling, and superb performance despite its small size.
It was well-received in the local market, particularly for the vehicle’s body mechanism with its A-pillar properly fit into the side walls to accommodate more room for the dashboard, making the small hatch more spacious and versatile. This pocket rocket was likewise adored for its smart and sporty styling, and superb performance despite its small size.
Following its market debut, two more generations were launched in 2008 and 2014. The third generation received a facelift in 2017, which was a great milestone for the nameplate, as it also saw the introduction of its sporty RS variant in the local market.
“The Jazz has been a remarkable nameplate in the Philippine market for around 13 years. However, as we continue to put an emphasis on meeting market demands, we have thoroughly studied the necessity of the models in our current model lineup,” HCPI president Masahiko Nakamura said.
“After careful consideration, we would like to formally announce the discontinuation of Jazz and all its variants, in order for us to shift our focus and resources to our current and upcoming models,” he added.
It is said that new Honda City Hatch model will replace the Jazz as the former is set to arrive in our shores soon. The latter will be available in Honda car dealerships until supplies last.
