Vaccine paradox

The paradox is a vaccine designed to control the virus may also be the cause of its spread.

In Pilipino jargon, it is called kapit sa patalim, which means clutch the blade in despair, the case for vaccines against Covid-19. As curves sharpen worldwide, as rapid virus mutations spread, there is no choice but to turn to a perceived “solution,” which, in spite of assurances from manufacturers, remains a mystery to science, and which is still open to raging scientific debates. The war between the vaxxers and anti-vaxxers is intensifying.

Back in 1975, Sam Peltzman came up with a theory named after him, the Peltzman Effect which states that people are more prone to take risks when a safety measure, namely the vaccine, has been achieved to insure some semblance of safety. Peltzman was talking of the car seat belt, but his theory is applicable to the vaccine. The Peltzman Effect is an odd human behavior or attitude that can nullify the value of vaccines and spread the virus more while containing it.

For example, if you have been vaccinated against Covid-19, it is easy to instinctively start going back to your “normal” pre-pandemic life — work, parties, socializing. This is intensified by the fact that you have been so cooped up by prolonged and intermittent lockdowns. The urge is strong to break quarantine protocol, to be careless.

Also, you can be a carrier even if you are not infected. So, quarantine officials still require that vaccinated people follow quarantine protocol strictly — social distancing, masks, and so forth. If you are an “invisible carrier” or an asymptomatic, and you run around like a mosquito, you become the catalyst to sharpen the curve. Lately, the US, Brazil and other countries, including the Philippines, are experiencing record positives. No data on the so-called Philippine variant, if there is one, has officially been given, or its effects studied and detailed.

Infection is now, based on statistics, evolving to be family-based, meaning, if one gets infected, the entire family is at risk, and there have been a lot of reports of entire or half of families wiped out.

Also, some vaccines do not take effect until a week or so after the second dose, so you may be running around, risking infection.

So please be careful. Be informed about the vaccine you got.

Virus variants are a complex thing, the apple of pandemic discord. I saw a matrix in social media where the six commonly known effects (horizontal column) of eight or so famous vaccines (vertical column) were compared. Many vaccines were able to neutralize most new variants, but not all.

This may be a useless exercise, as the variants keep multiplying in different countries like Brazil and the UK, all with different new “talents” like more infectious or more deadly or more serious effects. The 30 or so known variants may be doubling, not to mention still-unknown ones. Some vaccines may become obsolete very fast and we need to be vaccinated every year, like in the case of flu vaccines. This will cost trillions of dollars for nothing if we talk of vaccinating millions every year. The matrix may grow into the size of a football field.

This is where cheap non-vaccine remedies like Ivermectin and Lin Hua are important as a kapit-sa-patalim alternative, as vaccination hits snags in targeting millions. I hope these are not banned or suppressed, because it is the last resort for the poor and for poor nations. There is overwhelming evidence they are effective and bad effects are minimal. Banning or suppressing these may translate into death of millions worldwide.

Can we relate the growth of satanism, the pedophile epidemic, and internationally-funded abortion as catalysts to the pandemic? The Vatican “civil war,” the “apostasy” within the Church, was predicted by Our Lady of Fatima. We need to renew ourselves in the Lord, for what our best scientists fail to do, He can do in the blink of an eye. We must pray harder. We need a global spiritual renaissance. Lord, we surrender ourselves to Your will. Have mercy on us and forgive us our sins.
