Man stabs sister-in-law dead

STA. CATALINA, Ilocos Sur — Authoritie­s here on Tuesday reported that they have arrested a man who stabbed his sister-in-law more than 50 times on Monday night at Barangay Tamorong here.

Initial reports from the Sta. Catalina police revealed that the suspect — identified as Jimmy Ramos, stabbed his sister-in-law identified as Marilyn Ramos because the suspect was harboring an old grudge.

The suspect allegedly used an improvised ice pick to stab the victim dead.

Investigat­ions disclosed that prior to the stabbing incident, the suspect and the victim had a heated argument until the victim ran away towards the house of a neighbor identified as Herminio Rabena.

In his rage, the suspect followed the victim and stabbed her several times.

The victim was rushed to the Metro cooperativ­e hospital in Vigan but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Sta. Catalina PNP.
