HOW CELEBS SURVIVED COVID-19

- BY LOUISE LIZAN @tribunephl_lou

Covid-19 cases in the Philippines breached the 10,000 mark in the past few days. Just recently, it hit an all-time high, single-day tally of 15,310 new cases.

Among those who have tested positive are celebrities who, fortunately, have either completely recovered or are on the road to recovery.

Looking back, K Brosas said she experienced mild symptoms and “mental torture” while in isolation due to infection from the virus. She is now Covid-free after 17 days of quarantine.

On 9 April, she posted on Twitter that a new test said she’s negative but urged her followers to take extra precautions, pointing out that those who are infected might pass it on to someone who might have a hard time with it.

Rhian Ramos’ bout with Covid-19 started with a fever. She and her road manager, Rach Librado, tested positive, but both are now “out of the woods.”

Rhian posted on Instagram: “When you see your first negative result, you’ll be overcome with relief and that feeling you’ve been dreaming of… for five minutes there’s finally no fear.”

Sunshine Cruz said she had also fallen ill, but is now on her way to recovery. She didn’t reveal exactly what made her sick, although the symptoms were akin to that of Covid-19.

“Headache, body pain is now tolerable, cough is not as worse, my sense of taste and smell have improved. I thank God every day for I am slowly getting better,” Sunshine posted on Instagram. She’s recuperating at home.

On the other hand, Heaven Peralejo, Sunshine’s co-star in the Bagong Umaga TV series, landed in the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

Before going to the hospital, she was isolated while in a locked-in taping for the show, Heaven said on her vlog.

She recalled feeling weak and having difficulty in breathing. On her third day of isolation, she wanted to go home so bad, but couldn’t.

When she finally got home, she was immediately isolated in her parents’ room. She revealed feeling lethargic most of the time despite sleeping a lot.

Being alone gave her time for self-reflection. The 22-year-old actor, who has been embroiled in controversies in the past, said: “To be honest, last night, (I thought) where’s my will to live? I’ve been through a lot of bashings, and I don’t know, it really has an effect…”

But she realized it was better to focus on the little things that make her happy during an uncertain time: getting a dog, wearing cheek tints and doing TikTok videos.

“Everything that happened to me these past few weeks… issues, problems, Covid… I learned how to rise up,” she said.
