Eastern Samar requires negative RT-PCR result

- BY ELMER RECUERDO

TACLOBAN CITY — Travelers who are planning to go to Eastern Samar from high-risk areas under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ will now have to present a negative RT-PCR test result before they can enter the provincial borders.

Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone issued an executive order on Monday, 12 April, modifying health protocols in the province amid increasing number of people from the so-called high-risk areas who are going home to the provinces.

Under the new guidelines, incoming travelers, tourists, returning residents and returning overseas Filipinos have to present the negative test result at the provincial border. The test must have been conducted by a Department of Health-accredited testing laboratory taken within 72 hours prior to entry.

Eastern Samar is the second province in Eastern Visayas to require a negative RT-PRC for incoming travelers from ECQ and MECQ areas. Biliran province issued a similar restriction last 7 April.

Evardone said those who present negative results and are asymptomatic will be exempted from quarantine but will undergo a daily symptom monitoring through the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team for seven days since their arrival.

Travelers who cannot present an RT-PCR test will be required to undergo a home quarantine for five days and will have to undergo either RT-PCR or antigen test on the sixth day. Those who will yield negative results will be discharged from quarantine while those who will test positive will have to complete their 14days quarantine.
