Ardina, Guce play in Utah
Bianca Pagdanganan, the other Filipina pro seeing action in the United States pro circuit, is not playing this week
Dottie Ardina and Clariss Guce return to action Thursday at the inaugural Copper Rock Championship in Hurricane, Utah. Ardina is coming off a missed cut at the Lotte Championship in Hawaii while Guce is fresh from a 45th place finish at the Casino del Sol Golf Classic in Tucson, Arizona.
Both Filipino pros broke par in their last round. The 26-year-old Ardina fired 69 while the 30-year-old Guce closed with a 71.
Guce will tee off at 11:10 a.m. in the company of Moa Folke and Maddie McCrary. Ardina, on the other hand, is paired with Robyn Choi and Amanda Doherty in the final flight at 2:39 p.m. Bianca Pagdanganan, the other Filipina pro seeing action in the United States pro circuit, is not playing this week. Barring last-minute changes, the 23-year-old Pagdanganan will be spending the next 30 days working on regaining her game and confidence marred by two missed cuts and four unsuccessful attempts to qualify in LPGA events.
The only time Pagdanganan was able to finish a tournament this season was at the IOA Championship of the Symetra Tour where she came in joint 34th on 2-over 218.
After the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open, the LPGA Tour makes a two-leg Asian swing with a limited field.
The HSBC Women’s World Championship will be held 29 April-2 May in Singapore.
On 6 to 9 May, the tour goes to Thailand for the Honda LPGA Thailand.
Pagdanganan will make her third LPGA appearance on 20 to 23 May at the Pure Silk Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Before that, Pagdanganan will take part in an 18-hole qualifying tournament for the US Women’s Open on 10 May at the Lake Golf Club in New Jersey.
The US Women’s Open is penciled on 3 to 6 June in San Francisco, California.
Meanwhile, Yuka Saso is back in Japan where she’s taking a two-week break from tournament play because of mandatory quarantine regulations.
