Five South Korean stars landed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Asia.
The annual list selects individuals under the age of 30 who have made a significant impact in the fields of entertainment, sports, science, entrepreneurship and activism.
Among those who made it are South Korean stars and idols IU, GOT 7’s Jackson, Mamamoo’s Hwasa and Start-Up actors Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk.
IU (real name Lee Ji-eun) is a female singer-songwriter and actor who has appeared in the top-rating K-Dramas Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, My Mister and Hotel del Luna.
Korean idol Jackson of GOT7 is also popular in China. He also runs his own company Team Wang which includes a record label and a streetwear brand.
Mamamoo’s Hwasa debuted as a solo act in 2019 with the single “Twit.” In 2020, she released the single “Maria” which went to No. 7 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. It also topped the US iTunes Albums Chart, the first Korean solo artist to achieve the feat.
Bae Suzy began her career as a member of the girl group Miss A. In 2011, she made her K-Drama acting debut on Dream High.
She last starred in the TV series Start-Up
opposite Nam Joo-hyuk, who made his film debut in The Great Battle.
Joo-hyuk has also starred in several toprating K-Dramas Who Are You: School 2015; Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo; The Bride of Habaek; and The School Nurse Files.
Forbes 30 Under 30 also includes London-based Filipino musician No Rome
