Yuka is in; Bianca needs to qualify
A total of 1,595 golfers from 57 nations have signed up for the qualifiers.
Yuka Saso will make her second US Women’s Open appearance in June while Bianca Pagdanganan will have to go through qualifying next month.
Both Filipinas, however, will see action at the KPMG PGA Championship to be held in the same month as the US Women’s Open.
Saso’s current world ranking of No. 40 assured her of spots in the next two LPGA major championships.
Last year, the 19-year-old Fil-Japanese tied for 13th place at the US Women’s Open in Houston.
She is one of 74 golfers who are fully exempt into the 76th edition of the event as of 15 April.
Meanwhile, Pagdanganan will compete in one of the US Women’s Open qualifiers on 10 May at the Lake Golf Club in New Jersey.
It is one of 22 36-hole qualifiers held across 16 US states and one in Japan between 26 April and 13 May.
A total of 1,595 golfers from 57 nations have signed up for the qualifiers, the seventh consecutive time the event breached the 1,500-mark in participation.
Qualifiers in England, China and South Korea have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s US Women’s Open will be held 3-6 June at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.
Meanwhile, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is slated 24-27 June at the Highlands course in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pagdanganan secured a spot in the $4.3-million event by virtue of her joint ninth place finish last year at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
After shooting seven-over par 77 in the opening round, Pagdanganan shot back-to-back 65s to make the cut and contend for the title.
