‘FRIENDS’ FITS MIRROR MILLENNIAL, GEN Z FASHION
How you doin’?
I am still reeling from all emotions upon seeing Friends characters Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Chandler Bing, Joey Tribbiani and Ross Geller reunite and sit on the same couch at Central Perk.
Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have aged like fine wine and the TV series they popularized in 1994 lives on.
Though it first aired over 20 years ago, it’s as if the sitcom was conceptualized with the new generation in mind considering the cast members’ fashion sense. Here’s a look back at the outfits they wore that we’re most likely seeing in our wardrobes as well.
MINI AND MIDI DRESSES
Mini and midi dresses are definitely a staple in the wardrobe at this time. Given the Philippines’ tropical climate, it’s nice to stay comfortable with a cute ensemble. Plus, it’s the go-to clothing piece for lazy days.
CARDIGANS
Like coverups, cardigans are styled nowadays as comfort wear by simply fastening a few buttons the way Monica would do it in the show. But of course, it’s still considered as clothing for chilly days, which are fast approaching!
HIGH/TURTLE NECK TOPS
This is another type of clothing for the cold weather ahead but there’s something about its silhouette that gives one a classy and sophisticated look. To wear it even in the middle of humid weather, choose Rachel’s high-neck white top at the opening credits.
PATTERNS AND TEXTURES
Though basics are here to stay, a lot of people are straying from its dominance by trying out textured or clothing with patterns. These give one’s look a fresh spin.
INNERS+DRESS
For someone who isn’t keen on wearing sleeveless dresses or tops, this style is a life-saver. It’s also perfect for days when you don’t feel motivated to dress nice, yet you still want to look pretty.
BONUS ROSS LEATHER PANTS
This was a hip look even if Ross had the most uncomfortable time wearing it.
