SENTINELS RULES VCT MASTERS 2
Sentinels asserted its claim as the best Valorant professional team in the world following a dominant performance in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters 2 Reykjavik last week.
Bannered by Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, Sentinels crushed European powerhouse Fnatic in the grand finals, 14-12, on Split in Game 1 to rule this prestigious tourney via sweep.
The 19-year-old Tenz led Sentinels in kills with 24 to while Martin “MAGNUM” Penkov led Fnatic with the same amount of frags.
He’s here to stay.
The next map was played on Bind with Tenz leading the pack with 33 kills using Reyna.
The battle went to overtime, but Sentinels still gained the upper hand, 16-14, with the series culminating in Haven, 13-11.
With the win, Sentinels defeated three regions in Europe, Brazil and Korea to pocket $200,000 while Fnatic settled for the runner-up honors with $100,000.
But more than that, the world title was also impressive since TenZ emerged as the finals Most Valuable Player despite joining the Sentinels only last April.
TenZ, the former Cloud 9 star, joined Sentinels in a massive deal worth $1,250,000 following the suspension of Jay “Sinatraa” Won for alleged sexual abuse.
In a tweet, Sentinels expressed its delight in having TenZ in its permanent roster.
“He’s here to stay,” the club, which also won the Masters One title, said.
Initially, Cloud 9 wanted to transfer TenZ for $2,000,000, but eventually settled for a loan of $250,000.
With the transfer completed, TenZ has officially joined Sentinels’ Valorant roster that also has Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, Hunter “SicK” Mims, Jared “zombs” Gitlin, and Michael “dapr” Gulino.
