As part of its community program to address the Covid-19 pandemic, Pasay City police conducted a “barangayanihan” project on 12 June 2021.

Pasay City police chief Col. Cesar Padayos said the “barangayanihan” was being staged simultaneously by the different police stations at the Southern Police District under the leadership of P/Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg and with the assistance of National Capital Region Police Office chief Gen. Vicente Danao.

Meanwhile, the Pasay City local government has declared 163 barangays under its jurisdiction to be free from the coronavirus disease.

To date, the Pasay City Health Office said there are only 52 active Covid cases in the city after five new patients were recorded on 12 June.

The Pasay LGU was able to lower the number of Covid cases due to the localized community lockdown order issued by Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano in barangays with two or more positive cases.

This was followed by an aggressive campaign of contact tracing following the national government’s prevent-detect-isolate-treat and reintegrate strategy to address the Covid pandemic.

On the other hand, Covid occupancy rate is down to 25 percent at Pasay City General Hospital, indicating the situation is normal at the facility.

Col. Paday-os said Pasay’s “barangayanihan” was conducted at Inland Bus Terminal at Barangay 152.

A number of nongovernmental organizations participated to ensure the activity remained orderly.

Indigent families from Barangay 152 were given grocery packs, assorted vegetables, fish, bottled water, masks, and information material on health standards to be followed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
