Youth called for blood donation

-

In celebration of World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) today, 14 June 2021, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has called on the youth for blood donations to continue to replenish its supply of the life-giving fluid.

This year, PRC observes WBDD with the theme “Give blood and keep the world beating” to raise global and national awareness on the need for blood.

PRC assures it observes strict health protocols during blood donations and all its technical staff are tested regularly to ensure the safety of all blood donors.

Blood donation remains an essential service despite the grave challenges of the pandemic.

For this year’s #WBDD campaign, PRC focuses on the role of the youth in ensuring a safe blood supply. It encourages voluntary blood donation every three months, hoping to inspire others to make donation a habit.

Blood donation remains an essential service despite the grave challenges of the pandemic.

“The people’s need for blood doesn’t stop. PRC will always be open to help. Donate now! The blood that you will donate today will save lives tomorrow,” PRC chair and CEO Senator Richard Gordon yesterday said in a statement.

He called on the public to contact the country’s 104 Red Cross chapters and 98 blood service facilities, or contact its 143 hotline for urgent blood concerns.
