After her stint on ABS-CBN’s reality singing tilt Idol Philippines in 2019, Shanaia Gomez is eager to make her mark as a new Star Magic artist.

Gomez is no stranger to performing. Prior to joining ‘Idol Philippines,’ she was a member of a girl group in Canada called Charms

The 18-year-old, Ireland-born lass — who was Miss Philippines Canada first runner-up in 2016 — said she’s ready for projects where she can prove her worth as a performing artist and actor.

She named Liza Soberano, Anne Curtis and Kathryn Bernardo as her sources of inspiration.

“They are the people who I really look up to even when I was still in Canada. They inspired me,” Gomez said in an online interview.

‘When you surround yourself with the right people and you never give up, anything is possible.’

In 2016, she appeared with Ian Veneracion in a TV

commercial for a food seasoning product.

Gomez, who signed with Rise Artists Studio in March 2021, inked a contract with Star Magic during its Black Pen Day on 19 June.

“One thing that I would really do to make a mark in this industry is to be myself, to spread as much good vibes as possible. It’s about trying to make the world a better place by being kinder to everyone,” she said.

Young as she is, Gomez advised others who also dream of joining showbiz: “Never give up. There are people who know what’s best for you. Surround yourselves with people who care about you and who push you to be the best versions of yourselves.

“The journey is not an easy one. There are a lot of bumps, a lot of things that may want to make you give up. But when you surround yourself with the right people and you never give up, anything is possible.”
