Siaton, Negros Oriental Mayor Cezanne Fritz Diaz on Wednesday urged his constituents to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), stressing that the deadly respiratory disease is not an easy thing to handle.

In a radio interview, Diaz admitted that he had contracted Covid-19 but has since recovered, although he still experiences some symptoms of the deadly virus.

“As of now, I’m experiencing what we call post-Covid symptoms,” Diaz said. “I still experience difficulty in breathing and headaches so I’m still not 100 percent okay.”

He added among the symptoms he experienced were vomiting, high fever and diarrhea.

“It’s not easy to get infected with Covid,” Diaz said. “I was rushed to the hospital because I had difficulty in breathing, I had fever that extended for eight days… so I just kept praying and was optimistic that I can overcome this.”

The Siaton mayor stressed that it is important to be inoculated to ensure protection against the virus so he is urging the townspeople to get vaccinated to ensure the safety of their health.

Use masks, face shields and avoid mass gatherings.

He also called on the people to strictly follow the health protocols.

“Use masks, face shields and avoid mass gatherings,” Diaz said. “We need to be cautious and we really need to have everyone inoculated to ensure that we can go back to our normal lives come 2022.”

Diaz narrated that before the pandemic, divers all over the world visit Siaton because of its corals.
