Chemo treatment working for Blink - 182's Mark Hoppus

‘I’m so grateful and confused and also sick from last week’s chemo. But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and wishes of people around me are destroying this cancer. Just (going to) keep fighting,’ said the 49-year-old musician

Blink-182 bassist and co-lead vocalist Mark Hoppus has given an update on his health.

Insider.com recently reported that, during a recent Twitch Q&A with fans, the 49-year-old musician revealed that his cancer is “blood-related” instead of “bone-related.”

He said: “My blood’s trying to kill me.”

But he also pointed out that his treatments are working, after being diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or cancer of the blood.

“Scans indicate that the chemo is working! I still have months of treatment ahead, but it’s the best possible news,” Hoppus tweeted.

“I’m so grateful and confused and also sick from last week’s chemo. But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and wishes of people around me are destroying this cancer. Just (going to) keep fighting,” he added. Hoppus first disclosed his illness in June and had been undergoing chemotherapy a couple of months earlier.

He has been transparent about his condition, posting Instagram stories while undergoing treatment, as well as sharing photos of himself and his chemo’s side effects.

Former bandmates Tom DeLong and Travis Barker are showing their support for Hoppus. “He is strong and a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart.

#WeHaveHisBack,”

DeLong said on Twitter. Barker told E! News:

“Mark is my brother and I love and support him. I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”
