MAINE MENDOZA STEPS OUT OF HER COMFORT ZONE

Mike Tuviera helped conceptualize Buhay Komedya (BuKo) channel’s original show, #MaineGoals, to guide Maine Mendoza out of her comfort zone.
“In reality, Maine leads an introverted life. She’s very shy, loves reading books, writing and music. She doesn’t go out that much,” Mike Tuviera, CEO and president of APT Entertainment, the show’s producer, said in an online media conference.
#MaineGoals is one of a number of programs to watch on BuKo, the first 24-hour local comedy channel offering a mix of Filipino humor and good content.
#MaineGoals is also the first vlog-like lifestyle show of the phenomenal star. It’s mainly about Mendoza’s bucket list.
‘Much of #MaineGoals is off the cuff. It is not only funny and entertaining because when you watch it, you see Maine grow,’ says producer Mike Tuviera.
“She wanted to do a lot of things. There were a lot of options that she could do in terms of genres — narrative, sitcom or series. But Maine wanted it to be like a bucket list,” Tuviera said.
The show’s episodes will have Mendoza engaging in activities that may seem outside her interests. The TV star herself told Tuviera that the show made her realize she had lived a sheltered life and there is so much out there that she has yet to explore.
“Much of #MaineGoals is off the cuff. It is not only funny and entertaining because when you watch it, you see Maine grow. #MaineGoals is her attempt to experience more in life,” Tuviera said.
Also featured on BuKo Originals are Kusina ni Mamang,a
cooking show hosted by Pokwang; and the comedy show News Patol, hosted by Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.
BuKo’s second programming block, Tawang Pinoy Klasiks!, include Iskul Bukol, Wow Mali, Bubble Gang, OGAG, Loko Moko
and Tropang Trumpo.
Meanwhile, its Throwback Tawanan block brings a variety of popular comedy series and game shows such as Pidol’s Wonderland, Celebrity Samurai, Mac & Chiz and Sugo Mga Kapatid.
“Even with the delays that happened, BuKo has finally come into fruition. It is being born at exactly the right time. This is something that the audience not only wants but also needs, because sometimes we just need a laugh to get through the day,” Tuviera added.
BuKo channel premieres on 2 August on Cignal TV Channel 2, SatLite Channel 2 and on the Cignal
Play app.
