Hidilyn gets free air travel
Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz has been rewarded a lifetime 80,000 miles of free travel a year by national carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), becoming its first “Forever Flyer.”
This was announced by PAL president and COO Gilbert Santa Maria.
This is on top of the lifetime free flights offered by AirAsia to Diaz. “Philippine Airlines congratulates Hidilyn Diaz for bagging the country’s first Olympic gold! We will forever honor this feat by giving Miss Diaz 80,000 free miles per year, for life — making her not only the first Filipina Olympic gold medalist, but Philippine Airlines’ first Forever Flyer as well,” said PAL in its social media post on Tuesday.
Aside from free air travel, Diaz will also receive P10 million per Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.
The country’s tycoons Manny V. Pangilinan and Ramon S. Ang also sweetened the prize pot as they pledged P10 million each as well as
House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero who has committed P3 million.
She will also receive P5 million and free fuel for life courtesy of the third-largest oil company in the country, Phoenix Petroleum.
Zamboanga City, Diaz’s hometown, also promised P2.5 million while Malacañang pledged an undisclosed amount.
Megaworld also awarded the Olympic champion a residential condominium in Eastwood City worth P14 million.
Aside from the house and lot in Tagaytay City given by the local government, Century Properties Group will also give Diaz a house and lot worth four million pesos of her choice in any of its locations in Luzon.
She will be able to select a new house and lot in any of PHirst’s eight communities in key growth areas of Luzon — Tanza and the newly-launched General Trias in Cavite; Lipa and Nasugbu, Batangas;
San Pablo and Calamba, Laguna; Pandi, Bulacan; and in Magalang, Pampanga, and two more in northern and southern Luzon.
Foton Philippines also awarded a 13-seater TransVan to Diaz.
