Extreme CdO lockdown fake news — IATF

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has issued an official statement declaring as fake news that the IATF will put this city under extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) next week.

Arnel Agabe, regional IATF head said there was no advise from the national IATF that the city will be under EECQ starting 1 August because of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the city.

He said The regional IATF has urged the public to refrain from sharing fake new sand to verify all informatio­n received on the issuance and articles published on the websites of your government agencies. websites of local government­s or their social media account.

“Let us not cause undue alarm and panic as we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic” he said.

Because of the rising local transmissi­on of the coronaviru­s the city has been paced under modified enhanced community quarantine last 1 June and later on upgraded to enhanced community quarantine up to 31 July.

The city government has intensifie­d vaccinatio­n of residents to combat the rising cases of Covid-19 that has upgraded the quarantine status of the city to EECQ.

Mayor Oscar Moreno that the city health office has already vaccinated over 100,000 out of the more than 700,000 population of the city.

“We are targeting 7,500 resident vaccinatio­ns daily” he said.

He said senior citizens are now allowed to walk in various vaccinatio­n centers in the city.
