UK FORTIFIES COLLAB TO DEVELOP NEW CLARK CITY
New Clark City is among the pilot areas of the Global Future Cities (GFC) Program of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), an ODA technical assistance program that supports sustainable and inclusive urban development in 10 countries and 19 cities across the world.
The British Embassy in the country is eyeing collaboration and future developments in New Clark City in Tarlac.
This was signaled during the recent visit of British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils to New Clark City’s major development projects, the New Clark City in Tarlac, and the new Clark International Airport (CRK) terminal in Pampanga.
Beaufils, during her visit, aired continued support of the UK government to the sustainable and resilient projects by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
In a tour last 17 November, BCDA senior vice president (SVP) for Conversion and Development Group Joshua Bingcang showed the UK envoy the innovative features of the New Clark City’s Aquatics Center, Athletics Stadium, and River Park; as well as the new CRK terminal, as BCDA and the British Embassy are currently exploring potential partnership opportunities in New Clark City.

To recall, BCDA in September 2020 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the British Embassy Manila for the design of the New Clark City Central Park, the creation of a sustainability unit, as well as an affordable housing project at the New Clark City.
BCDA SVP Bingcang and UK Ambassador Beaufils were joined by British Embassy Director for Trade and Investments Richard Colley and Global Future Cities Prosperity Programme Adviser Cherrie Nuez.
Dubbed as the Philippines’ next green, clean and smart city, New Clark City is BCDA’s answer to the overstressed confines of Metro Manila.
Masterfully laid out, highly connected, with mixed-use developments and an integrated transport system, New Clark City was eyed to provide the unmatched potential for the Philippines, its neighbors, and its investors to be a global economic force.
