Case closed: Time to arrest the mastermind. Homicide probers of the Manila Police District (MPD) have already identified the “mastermind” behind the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of a barangay kagawad last Monday in Tondo, Manila.

The gunman, according to Daily Tribune sources, have already fingered the “brains” behind the shooting of Abigail Ampil and Kagawad Frankie Sena while they were walking.

Ampil was killed while Sena sustained a bullet wound on the shoulder in the attack at 5:40 p.m. on 29 November.

Lt. Adonis Aguila, chief of the MPD homicide section, has filed a complaint against the shooter and the one who hired him, according to sources.

The motive for the contract killing was indebtedness, although some other angles are being looked into by the police, including relationship acrimony.

Arresting policemen conducted a follow-up operation to arrest the alleged instigator of the shooting, but failed to find him in his house.

Ampil was shot in the head while she was walking with Sena in front of the Sunog Apog Pumping Station in Tondo. The gunman was aboard a motorcycle when he started shooting.

The two shooting victims were immediately brought to the Chinese General Hospital but Ampil was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

The gunman was arrested after he was identified by a witness when the police reviewed closed-circuit television camera footage of the incident.
