Baguio City residents and visitors have to put on thick clothes and cover themselves with bulky blankets as the temperature in the city dropped again, with weather authorities forecasting even colder days ahead.

At 5 a.m. Saturday, 4 December, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the temperature in the city dropped to 11.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far this month.

Mid-day temperature in the coming days is expected to range between 23 to 24 degrees and will drop again in the later part of the afternoon and more so in the evening.

Nighttime temperature is expected to be at about 13 degrees.

For today, the temperature was seen to be at 12 degrees or higher. On Friday, the lowest temperature was also at 12 degrees.

From the late part of the year towards January to February of the following year, the temperature in Baguio City and Benguet normally drops.

The colder temperature is attributed to the winter winds coming from Japan and Korea. The coldest ever temperature recorded in Baguio was 6.3 degrees on 8 January 1961.

Health authorities are reminding people to keep warm so as not to catch the common cold and flu, and also to boost their immune system by eating healthy foods, exercising and getting enough rest.
