Castro shoots day’s best round

Zachary Castro shot the day’s best round — three-over par 75 — to take a three-shot lead over Sean Dominique Granada in the premier boys’ 15-18 age-group division in the 2022 Junior Golf Circuit at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, Cavite Sunday. The 15-year-old De la Salle-Zobel student, who started in the back nine, made double bogey on 11 and dropped shots on 14 and 15. After back-to-back birdies from 16, Castro double bogeyed 9 to reach the turn on 4-over 40. He righted the ship going home with two birdies against a single bogey.

Sean Dominique Granada shot 78 to trail Castro with Rico Daniel See taking third spot with 81. In the girls’ 15-18, Anya Cedo seized the lead with 89 followed by Julianna Kristine Go with 91.

Anne Kei Fernandez and Maria Sofia Encarnacio­n tied for third with identical 97s.

Boys (11-12): Emil Hernandez 84, Marc Kristoffer Nadales 85, Alexander Rajah Crisostomo 87, Scott Nicholas Ng 87.
