A monthly United State-based magazine, Global Traveler, has named Taipei as Asia’s Best Leisure Destination for the fifth straight year during its 10th Leisure Lifestyle Awards.

For its successive recognition, Taiwan thus attained Quint Status in the monthly magazine catering to frequent business and luxury travelers.

Seoul, Phuket, Tokyo and Singapore rounded out the Top 5 Asian leisure destinations. Hong Kong, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Osaka and the island of Bali rounded out the top ten, according to the magazine.

In the Best Airport for Layovers category, Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport got here in fourth, at the back of Istanbul Grand Airport, Miami International Airport and Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The findings had been intriguing, thinking that Taiwan has not allowed foreign visitors since tightening border controls in the first part of 2020, and Taoyuan airport has no longer been applied to transit to different places because of Covid-19.

Global Traveler did not make clear whether or not its poll or awards took into attention decreased travel because of the pandemic, without a doubt that it surveyed its readers from 14 December 2021 to 30 April 2022.

When asked about the findings, Shih Chao-hui, the chairperson of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s Los Angeles office, stated that because the Covid-19 pandemic continues to unfold globally, American travelers have prioritized health, safety and environmental sustainability.

According to him, Taiwan has an aggressive benefit in such sectors.
