The Sweden Embassy in the Philippines is focusing on the Covid-19 booster vaccination campaign in celebration of its National Day last 6 June.
Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Annika Thunborg said this is only 13 percent of Filipinos had been administered a booster despite easy access to the vaccines.
“No one is safe until everyone is and further lockdowns will harm us all… Let us show solidarity with the most vulnerable in society, with our communities and businesses, and thus with society as a whole by getting boosted,” the envoy said during the Sweden National Day reception at IKEA Pasay City.
Thunborg thanked the Philippine College of Physicians, Team Sweden (Sweden Embassy, Business Sweden and Swedish companies), as well as the Pasay City in helping organize vaccination drives.
Sweden has donated 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines through COVAX since the start of the pandemic. Over 1.5M vaccine doses were allotted to the Philippines. It is one of the largest per capita donors to the said worldwide initiative, providing a total of USD 260 million in support.

Thunborg is looking forward to working closely with the administration of incoming president Bongbong Marcos in building back “greener and more inclusively, not leaving anyone behind and building sustainably and resiliently for future generations.
“I congratulate the incoming government and look forward to working closely with you including together with the European Union to further this agenda,” Thunborg added.
To further commemorate the Swedish National Day and the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties, the iconic Mall of Asia Globe was decked out in the Swedish colors blue and yellow.
