Batangas posts Laguna massacre

-

Batangas City Embassy Chill showed no mercy in booking a 96-55 massacre of Laguna in the OKbet-Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League 4th Season late Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Athletics flaunted their might, dominating the game from start to finish to post their ninth straight win in the single round robin phase of this 22-team tournament.

Levi Hernandez came off the bench to fire 17 points laced with five three-pointers, three assists and three rebounds, while Cedric Ablaza chipped in 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals for Batangas, which saw three more players finishing in double figures.

John Ambulodto fired 12 points and seven rebounds while Dawn Ochea and Jeremy Cruz chipped in 12 markers apiece.

With the outcome no longer in doubt, Batangas coach Cholo Villanueva had the luxury of shuffling all his 15 players with only two of them failing to barged into the scoring column.

Laguna, meanwhile, drew 14 points from Darius Duane Estrella and 10 markers from Paolo Pontejos en route to suffering their seventh loss in eight matches.

Meanwhile, Rizal Xentro Mall allowed Mindoro to inch closer before unloading a lethal scoring run to register a 100-82 victory in the night cap.

Alvin Capobres nailed nine of his 23 points while Jolo Mendoza posted eight of his 20 points in the final quarter to help Rizal secure their fifth victory in eight games under youthful mentor Jonathan Banal.

Also emerging victorious was Marikina, which posted a 92-88 victory over Caloocan Excellence to halt its seven-game slide.

Yves Sason celebrated his birthday in style as he scored 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to power the Shoemasters to the impressive win that pushed Caloocan to a 2-5 win-loss mark.
