He said traditional politicians opposed to the Mindanao peace process and the extension of the regional government transition period are behind the move to discredit the MILF and the BARMM

COTABATO CITY — The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Wednesday lambasted the reported “disinformation” being peddled by what they called “peace spoilers” in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

This comes after reports of a letter sent to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. by an alleged MILF commander regarding the existence of “MILF Salamat Wing” claiming to be a faction within the MILF founded by Sheik Salamat Hashim.

MILF chief Ahod “Murad” Ebrahim described the contents of the letter supposedly sent to the President as “plain and simple lies.”

Ebrahim said a certain commander Abdulfatah Delna, whose signature appears in the letter, was suspended by the MILF on during the campaign period of the last elections due to his “overt political acts supporting a local candidate in Maguindanao who continues to undermine the peace process, the MILF, and the transitional government.”

The MILF chief stressed that traditional politicians opposed to the Mindanao peace process and the extension of the regional government transition period are behind the move to discredit the MILF and the BARMM.

“Let this be a fair warning to the peace spoilers — we know you, and our people know your hidden agenda. You will not succeed as you have not succeeded in the past in all your attempts to derail the peace process and take over the fruits of all the struggles of our people,” Ebrahim said.

Meatime, BARMM Interior Minister and regional spokesperson Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo blasted the letter, saying that it was nothing more than “a poorly written application letter for membership into the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), devoid of any principles and far from a political statement.”

The 80-member BTA is the region’s provisional lawmaking body.
