APO Cement Corporation, a subsidiary of CEMEX Philippines, recently celebrated the completion of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) with an appreciation dinner in Cebu City for the Cebu Link Joint Venture team (CLJV).

The CLJV — the design and build contractor of CCLEX — is composed of Spain-based Acciona Construcción, S.A. and Philippine-based firms First Balfour and DMCI, while APO Cement of CEMEX Philippines supplied the cement for this longest and tallest bridge in the country.

“The CCLEX is a major infrastructure project not only of Cebu but also the country, and CEMEX is honored with the opportunity to be part of this iconic project. Definitely, a symbol of further progress as it connects Cebu City mainland to Cordova town on Mactan

Island,” said Guilder Bringas, CEMEX Philippines director for Commercial, Institutional Segment.

CCLEX project paved the way for the partnership between the CLJV and APO Cement as the supplier of cement. Hopefully, this partnership will bring more world-class projects in the future.

“There were a lot of challenges while building the bridge, including global supply chain issues during the pandemic but I am happy that CEMEX performed good and we are thankful for that,” Daniel Muñoz Gonzalez, CLJV project director, said in his message during the appreciation dinner held at the Radisson Blu Cebu in Cebu City.

Albert Benedicto and John Manansala, CEMEX Philippines’ commercial manager and technical commercial manager, respectively, both expressed appreciation for the highly collaborative team of CLJV.

Benedicto and Manansala recognized the shared objective of both CEMEX Philippines and CLJV to make a historic landmark designed and built outstandingly. The CCLEX is an 8.5-kilometer toll expressway that connects mainland Cebu in Cebu City to the island of Mactan through Cordova town. This newest Cebu landmark was inaugurated by former president Rodrigo Duterte in April this year, and it is expected to ease traffic congestion in mainland Cebu.
