Go commends Filipinas’ feat
Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go formally filed a resolution commending the national women’s football team for its historic triumph in the AFF Women’s Championships recently.
Go, an avid sports fan, filed Senate Resolution 62 last Monday congratulating the Filipinas for winning their first ever regional title last 17 July at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Go’s resolution exhibits his continuing efforts as Chair of the Senate Committee on Sports to promote long-term sports development in the country, particularly to encourage more sports programs, league competitions, and amateur sports, including training for international sports competitions, to instill self-discipline, teamwork and excellence.
We again proved that sports contributes a lot to our country.
“I have consistently pushed for an intensive sports development in the country as I believe sports is an effective way to keep Filipino youth away from vices,” Go said, adding that the Filipinas 3-0 win over Thailand in the final was very inspiring to the next breed of athletes.
“We again proved that sports contributes a lot to our country. Aside from helping our countrymen improve their health, it also provides a lot of opportunities to young athletes.”
Go likewise commended the team’s manager Jeff Cheng and head coach Alen Stajcic for inspiring the team to always do their best that led them to win their first championship in this year’s AFF.
The resolution cited that the triumph of the Filipinas team is a result of their hard work, dedication and perseverance.
Also, Go acknowledged how the Filipino athletes have showcased their grit, determination and competitiveness in international sporting events.
“The symbolic win has not only brought our nation pride and honor, but has become an inspiration to youth and women empowerment,” Go said.
