Thai superstar BamBam, who was recently in Manila for a series of events, promised to Filipino fans he’ll be back for a concert. The GOT7 member announced it in a media conference held 28 July at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, shortly before a fan sign meet. Earlier this week, BamBam was in Cebu for a similar engagement.
On 29 July, he performed with fellow GOT7 member Jackson and 10-member act Treasure at the K-pop Masterz in Manila concert.
To warm up before a performance, BamBam said he likes to drink tequila. “That’s the first time I’ve revealed that,” he said, laughing.
Asked about collaborating with a Filipino artist, BamBam said he’s already in talks with James Reid, though nothing firm has been set.
Also recently, BamBam appeared in photos with Reid and Liza Soberano — who has signed up with Reid’s record label Careless Music.
BamBam is the latest K-pop idol to hold a solo fan sign event in the Philippines. He was preceded by Jung Yerin, formerly of the girl group G-Friend, and fellow GOT7 member Youngjae.
He’s working on new music, BamBam said. He released his debut solo album Ribbon on 15 June 2021. It was followed by the sophomore mini-album B.
GOT7 first visited the Philippines for a fan meet in 2015 arranged by JYP Entertainment. It was quite memorable for Filipino ahgases, the group’s fandom name, as BamBam sang Ronnie Liang’s “Ngiti.”
The septet left the agency in January 2021. Yugyeom signed with AOMG, Jinyoung with BH Entertainment, Mark joined Creative Artists Agency, Jackson and Youngjae now with Sublime. JAY B, who joined H1GHR MUSIC, is now with CDNZA Records.
BamBam, meanwhile, is currently a label mate of Sandara Park in ABYSS.
In 2016, GOT7 took its Flight Log: Turbulence
tour to Manila and Cebu. The members returned in 2019 for the Keep Spinning World Tour.
BamBam’s fan sign in the Philippines was presented by Y Global Music in partnership with CDM Entertainment.
