Shop, earn, save the Earth

-

Studies found that the world produces about 300 million tons of plastic every year.

among these are single-use plastics that mostly end up in different bodies of water. Single-use plastics do not decompose and turn into microplastics which become a big threat to marine wildlife.

choosing to be sustainable is the best route to take in order to preserve our home.

Patrons of Puregold may now shop for their necessities, earn rebates, and contribute to saving mother earth all at the same time by opting for reusable bags.

The supermarket has implemented its “Walang Plastik Mondays” wherein Perks and Tindahan ni aling Puring members that would bring their own eco bags on Mondays will be given P1 cashback for every bag used, and can earn up to P5 in savings for every transaction.

This is in line with the company’s “intent is to be a mindful company that reuses, recycles, and reduces whatever resources are available and as a retailer, encourages its customers to do the same” according to Puregold president Vincent co.

He added: “We are very much invested in doing business sustainably and help the younger generations look forward to their future. This is a community effort and we hope to work hand in hand with our customers in achieving our objective.”

in 2021, Puregold has seen a decline of almost 40 percent in the company’s purchase of single-use plastic bags. almost half of its stores have discontinued the use of single-use plastic bags, opting for more sustainable packaging such as recycled carton boxes or eco bags. its stores are also contributing to the sustainability movement by using LeD lights. Furthermore, its 135 wastewater treatment facilities are compliant with government regulations which lessens the company’s impact on water resources. When it comes to logistics, Puregold has positioned itself to reduce carbon footprint by an estimated 36 percent through optimum cross-dock operations efficiency.
