NCR logs 2,849 2-week Covid total

New recoveries totaled 346, bringing to 3,934,690 the number of people who had recovered from the virus since it was first detected in the country

Metro Manila had the highest number of new Covid-19 infections in the past two weeks with 2,849 cases, the Department of Health reported Sunday.

The DoH said the capital region was followed by CALABARZON with 1,685, Western Visayas (1,367), Central Luzon (1,011), and Central Visayas with 915.

A total of 1,858 new Covid cases on Sunday brought the Philippine­s’ active tally to 19,176 and the total caseload to 4,018,253 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

New recoveries totaled 346, bringing to 3,934,690 the number of people who had recovered from the virus since it was first detected in the country after originatin­g from Wuhan, China.

Five new deaths brought the total fatalities due to the virus to 64,387.

Based on reports from 317 testing laboratori­es, 11,634 individual­s were tested for the virus Saturday.

The bed occupancy rate in the country was 24.4 percent as of Friday, with 6,940 occupied and 21,526 vacant beds.
