Yuletide season coding stays

- RAADEE SAUSA

The implementation of the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or numbers coding scheme in the National Capital Region will not be suspended during the holiday season, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Monday.

The scheme, however, is usually suspended by the MMDA or by local government units in the metro during national holidays.

Said scheme bars private vehicles from most NCR roads from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday, depending on their license plates’ respective ending numbers.

License plates ending in 1 and 2 are covered by coding on Mondays, 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, 5 and 6 on Wednesdays, 7 and 8 on Thursdays and 9 and 0 on Fridays.

Makati City has its own coding hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Exempted from coding are public vehicles, transport network vehicles services, motorcycles, garbage trucks, marked government vehicles, gasoline trucks, marked media vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and vehicles carrying perishables or essential goods.
