Operatives of the Bureau of Immigration arrested an overstaying Canadian for alleged destruction of properties in their subdivision.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the foreign national as Andrew Clark Stewart, who was nabbed by BI agents in Angeles City, Pampanga in front of the suspect’s house.

According to Tansingco, complaints were filed against the suspect for his unbecoming conduct in the subdivision where he lives, adding that when officers approached Stewart, he failed to present a valid passport or any identification card which prompted his immediate arrest for being an undocumented alien in flagrante.

Stewart is now facing a deportation case for violating the conditions of his stay under the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940 for overstaying and for being an undocumented immigrant.

Tansingco said that it should serve as a warning to all foreign nationals who wish to stay in the country. They should also legalize their stay and act decently to avoid imprisonment and deportation.

Stewart is now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending his deportation proceedings.
