Former NPA lair discovered

PANTABANGA­N, Nueva Ecija — The Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office discovered a previous lair of rebel troops after it was tipped off by a former rebel here.

NEPPO provincial director Police Col. Richard Caballero disclosed that the burrow where the arms cache and supplies were found by the joint operating personnel from the Philippine Army and his unit in Barangay Malbang.

The hideout yielded 19 pieces of noodles, 19 pieces of assorted bottle condiments, 15 kilos of rice, a broken casserole pan, 42 rounds of M16 ammunition­s, 24 rounds of M14 ammunition­s, an M14 magazine, two M16 magazines, two flashlight­s, two 9V batteries, and two glue sets, including war materiel.

Police Regional Office 3 chief Police P/Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen lauded the efforts of the AFP and the PNP as they continue to prevent the spread of insurgency in the region.

“Our campaign against insurgency has no let-up. Due to our non-stop efforts together with the AFP, the CTGs continue to suffer setbacks. We are doing the best we can to eventually achieve the goal of RTF ELCAC,” Pasiwen said.
