Hagonoy acting police chief Maj. Rhuel Barachina revealed that the discovery was reported to them by Elmer Cabuslay, a retired police officer currently heading the security team at the firm’s compound.

Upon receiving the information, Barachina called the provincial police’s Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit for the safe retrieval of the vintage bombs.

Recovered were a rusty 60mm mortar projectile with no fuse; an MK2 fragmentation grenade sans fuse assembly; and eight corroded 20-pounder AN-M41 fragmentation bombs without fin stabilizers.

“The discovery of any explosive materials must be reported to the police in the soonest possible time due to the danger it poses to inexperienced individuals who might tinker with it,” Barachina said.
