Jung Ho-yeon looking for work
The breakout star of ‘Squid Game’ — the most-followed Korean female actor on Instagram with 22.5 million followers — said, ‘It could be because I am adventurous, but maybe because I’m greedy as well’
It’s ironic that Jung Ho-yeon, the breakout star of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, is looking for work.
“Honestly, I don’t have one. It could be because I am adventurous, but maybe because I’m greedy as well,” the 28-year-old model-turned-actor said in a media conference in Manila.
Jung Ho-yeon is the most-followed Korean female actor on Instagram with 22.5 million followers. She was recently in town for her first fan meeting courtesy of IAM Worldwide.
Jung said she’s open to do just about anything as an actor: “I want to try all kinds of genres and play different kinds of characters. I just want to explore and do many things.”
In Squid Game, Jung portrayed a North Korean defector, Kang Saebyeok, who, along with some 455 debt-ridden Koreans, are forced to compete out in a game-like arena. The lone survivor gets to take home the ₩45.6 billion prize.
But Jung has not really been jobless. She teased several of her upcoming projects: The Apple+ TV series Disclaimer with Cate Blanchett, a movie, The Governesses, starring Lily-Rose Depp, and a Netflix Korea comedy-mystery show, Dakgangjeong (Korean Fried Chicken).
Jung won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards. She also bagged Best Actress in an Action Series award at the 27th Critics Choice Awards. She was nominated at the 2022 Emmy Awards also for
