Lumagui named BIR chief

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has named Romeo Lumagui Jr. as commission­er of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Malacañang announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Office of the Press Secretary said Lumagui, a tax lawyer, took his oath on Tuesday.

He previously served as deputy commission­er for the BIR before his new appointmen­t.

Lumagui has been designated to various posts and functions, such as the technical assistant to the commission­er, and tax fraud head for Revenue Region 6, Manila, Revenue Regio. 4, Pampanga, and Revenue Region 7B, East NCR.

According to OPS, Lumagui has been designated to the project management and implementa­tion service, which develops and oversees the implementa­tion of the overall reform or modernizat­ion program of the BIR.
