Manila holds simultaneous Christmas tree lighting
The “Paskong Manilenyo” — which kicked off on Tuesday — jumpstarted the simultaneous Christmas tree lighting within and outside of the City Hall and other parts of the city.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and was joined by Vice Mayor Yul Servo and Congressmen Joel Chua (3rd district), Ernix Dionisio (1st district) and Rolan Valeriano (2nd district) in the ceremonial switch-on activity that lighted up the giant Christmas tree at the Kartilya ng Katipunan side of the Bonifacio Shrine.
Other city officials, led by city administrator Bernie Ang, city engineer Armand Andres, spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante and city electrician Randy Sadac as well as city councilors and barangay officials were also in attendance.
The Nativity scene or “Belen” and a giant lantern along with the Christmas tree at the Bulwagang Rodriguez were also lit up.
Lacuna said that Christmas lanterns along the stretch of Roxas Boulevard, Taft Avenue, Lawton, Quezon Boulevard, P. Burgos Drive were also lighted up.
Joining the simultaneous Christmas tree lighting were the National Museum of Fine Arts Building, Rizal Park, Tutuban Center and the Manila Central Post Office.
