OVP eyes 3 satellite offices next year
The Office of Vice President plans to establish one to three more satellite offices next year, Vice President and Department of Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte said.
The Vice President said she met with satellite managers on Tuesday and there was a discussion that they should put up a satellite office in the eastern side of Luzon.
“We will assess first our budget on how it (OVP) can accommodate additional satellite offices,” Duterte said.
“In areas where we do not have a presence, the people go to our satellite offices. So, that’s what we’re looking at, to divide geographically the areas of coverage of the satellite offices, making it more easier for our kababayans to ask assistance from us,” Duterte added.
Currently, the OVP has seven satellite offices located in Dagupan (Region 1), Cebu (Region VII), Tacloban (Region VIII), Zamboanga (Region IX), Davao and Tandag in Surigao del Sur (Region XI), and Bacolod City (Region VI).
Aside from medical and burial assistance, the OVP is now providing legal assistance and emergency employment to displaced workers.
