Senator Christopher “Bong” Go hailed and thanked the outstanding barangay workers of Bulacan and led the groundbreaking of a super health center in Balagtas town on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the senator became an adopted son of Zambales for the various support he gave to the province.

“I believe that with your help and cooperation, the country will quickly rise from the pandemic or any crisis we will face,” Go told awardees of the 21st Gawad Galing Barangay held by the provincial government at the Hiyas Convention Center in Malolos City.

He vowed to support barangay workers through his Senate Bill 427 which proposes the provision of allowances and incentives to barangay health workers. If passed into law, a monthly allowance of P3,000, security of tenure and other benefits and privileges will be provided to each BHW.

After the awarding ceremony, Go personally joined the groundbreaking of the Bulacan town’s SHC which are bigger versions of barangay health centers offering more medical services to the public.

Go said seven SHCs will be put up in Bulacan, including in Bulakan, Pandi, San Miguel and Guiguinto towns, and in the cities of San Jose del Monte and Meycauayan.

In the senator’s visit to Zambales on Tuesday, Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. presented Go with a copy of the provincial board resolution adopting him as son of the province.

“Without his support, these projects like the new Iba municipal hall and the super health center would not have materialized at all. And the people of Zambales are really grateful for that,” Ebdane said of Go during a ceremony held at the People’s Park in Iba town.

Go was with Senator Robin Padilla to distribute assistance to indigent families in Iba when he was presented the resolution sponsored by Board Member Jun Rundstedt Ebdane and unanimously approved by the provincial board.

The two senators also inspected the new GO Iba municipal building in Barangay Dirita and the SHC in Barangay Bangantalinga.

The provincial board also recognized Go’s help in the establishment of a Malasakit Center at the provincial hospital where indigent patients get medical assistance.

Aside from his projects for health delivery, Go had provided assistance for agriculture and food security, sports and youth development, as fire prevention and protection among others, the Zambales commendation said.
