A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday after being hit by a sand-bearing truck being towed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority along Aurora Boulevard, corner Broadway Avenue in Quezon City.

According to MMDA rescuer Oscar Ilagan Jr., the tow truck was pulling the dump truck when the tow bar gave way and left the load sliding backward, rear-ending the four bike riders behind it.

Three of the motorcycle riders escaped serious injuries, but one went under the sand truck and was crushed by the wheels.

All of the motorcycles were destroyed and were brought to the Quezon City Police District impounding compound at traffic sector 4.

The driver of the MMDA tow truck, who was not identified, was arrested to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
